Thinking about adopting?

Making the decision to adopt is life-changing.

We help those who want to adopt children who cannot remain with their own birth parents.

Whether you're ready to make your application or would just like to start finding out more, get in touch with us now using the form on this page.

Who can adopt?

  • There's no upper age limit to adopt (but you do need to be aged over 21)
  • You do not need to be married or in a civil partnership or relationship
  • Having a disability does not exclude you

The application process...

We support you before, during and after you have made your application to adopt. During the initial assessment process, you will need to disclose any criminal offences, have a medical check and provide four references.

Post-approval, we carry on supporting you by visiting regularly, helping you to meet up with other adopters at our monthly Post-Adoption Groups and holding fortnightly pre-school groups for adopted children and adopters.

To start finding out if adoption is for you, please contact us using the form above. We will get back to you with further information about adopting with Southend-on-Sea.
